KOCHI: With new courses and subsequent increase in number of students, the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) is facing an issue in providing enough hostel facility. The university has invited applications from private hostel owners on the campus vicinity for taking hostels on lease for Cusat School of Engineering (SoE) to accommodate first year BTech students.
Last date to apply is June 5.
Currently, Cusat has over 7,000 students pursuing degree in 27 departments. Along with this, the university has started four new postgraduate level integrated courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry and biotechnology. In addition, vocational courses such as BVoc and MVoc have been launched by the School of Management.
"Construction of a hostel for boys is underway and work on girls' hostel will be completed soon," said Cusat vice-chancellor K N Madhusoodanan.
